UPDATE: Ameren Says Nearly All Power Customers Restored
Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis were particularly hard-hit by this morning's outages.
UPDATE: Ken Martin of Ameren talked to Patch about this morning's outages. He said that a crew performing maintenance at the Point Prairie substation experienced an equipment malfunction. Ameren is still looking into the cause of the malfunction.
Martin said that half of the customers had power restored by 8:15 a.m. and that at the time of this writing, 9:38 a.m., almost everyone was back up.
Original story:
More than 28,000 customers in the 63366 area code and 9,700 in the 63366 area code in St. Charles County are without power on this cold January morning.
The outages are affecting customers in St. Charles, St. Louis, Lincoln and Warren Counties.
The Wentzville School District reported a power outage on their Facebook page before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, but it was restored just before 9 a.m.
Patch will update when more information becomes available.

Wentzville School District was not the only one without power in Wentzville this morning. Most, if not all, of Wentzville was out for over an hour. But some how Wentzville was not mentioned
