Athlete of the Week: Kacy Eschweiler

The St. Charles West freshman claimed her first Patch Athlete of the Week award by garnering a staggering 91 percent of the votes this week.

Name of student: Kacy Eschweiler

Year in school: Freshman

Sport: Varsity basketball and varsity volleyball

The St. Charles West High School freshman claimed her first Patch Athlete of the Week award by garnering a staggering 91 percent of the votes this week. Eschweiler shot 6-of-13 from the floor en route to a 20 point evening in the Warriors' 59-44 win over Orchard Farm Feb. 8. Eschweiler also added six blocks, four assists and nine rebounds to help St. Charles West to its ninth win of the season.

For winning, Patch caught up with Eschweiler to ask her a few questions.

What is your favorite part about playing sports for your high school?

Eschweiler: My favorite part of sports has been getting to know and making friends with all of the older girls.

How long have you been playing sports?

Eschweiler: I have been playing basketball since 3rd grade.  I think I took tennis lessons when I was 5 though! 

Any future plans, such as playing in college? And if so, where?

Eschweiler: I want to play basketball in college but I don’t know where. 

Do you have any pregame rituals you take part in? And if so, what are they?

Eschweiler: I always talk to my grandpa and mess around with my team.

Who are your biggest influences and role models and why?

Eschweiler: My grandpa has influenced me to always play hard and not give up. He and my grandma are always at my games. We talk after every game and he watches game films with me. He has taught me a lot about basketball and sports in general. I like to make him proud of me after I play a good game.

What’s playing on your iPod right now?

Eschweiler: Drake

Favorite non-school related activity?

Eschweiler: I like being around my friends and family

If you could have dinner with any three people in history, who would they be?

Eschweiler: Doug McDermott, Gordon Hayward, and Betty White!
