Board Approves Mayor's Appointment to Ward 3 Seat

John Luby will fill the seat left vacant since the April election.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen voted Wednesday to approve Mayor Nick Guccione's appointment of John Luby to the vacant Ward 3 seat.

The special meeting was originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m. but was postponed when a quorum was not present. Sonya Shryock had an approved absence from the meeting, and Rick Stokes was running late, so the mayor moved the special meeting to 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m., Guccione announced his appointment of former alderman John Luby. Luby is a former alderman who served two terms on the board from 2006-2010.

Several board members expressed their support for Luby. The members present voted unanimously to approve the appointment. Luby was sworn in immediately and participated in the meeting.

"I hope to fill the bill and do the job," Luby said during his alderman's report.
