Ceremonial Groundbreaking for New Sam's Club Set for Today

Event to last roughly 30 minutes and commemorate the construction of the new Sam's Club.

Business leaders and city officials will break ground on the site of the new Sam's Club today at 11 a.m.

Construction crews have already been on-site for weeks—Tuesday's event, which is sponsored by the Wentzville Chamber of Commerce, serves as a ceremonial groundbreaking.

According to the chamber's website, attendees should park in the Walmart parking lot located at the side of the building. The event is expected to last roughly 30 minutes.

The new Wentzville store, which will be located just west of Walmart, was first announced in February. A gas station on the Kohl's side of Bear Creek Drive will also feature 12 regular gasoline pumps and six diesel pumps, Tucker said.

THF Realty successfully applied for a Community Improvement District (CID) to help finance the Sam’s Club and Sam’s Club gas station. An estimated $7 million would be collected by creating a CID surrounding the Sam's Club lot. Within the CID, the city may allocate one-half cent sales tax to the developer for up to 27 years.

If construction timelines remain unchanged, the store should open around October.
