We've got five ideas for gifts for foodies.

Welcome to Christmas in Wentzville, a daily column that will give you ideas of ways to shop in Wentzville for those you love this holiday season. Each day Patch will have ideas for gifts based on a theme—sports lover, outdoorsman, the reader or last-minute gifts.

We’re all about foodies. If you’ve got a foodie on your shopping list this holiday season, we’ve got you covered. Here are five fun gift ideas for your favorite food-lover.

Special ingredients—Many foodies would love to use certain expensive ingredients they read about and see used on cooking shows, but most of the time, they can’t justify the cost for everyday cooking. Consider hitting Dierbergs or Schnucks to put together a basket of your foodie’s wish list of foods and spices.

Pretty serving dishes—Foodies love to cook, and they love to feed people. Help freshen up your favorite foodie’s table with new and interesting serving dishes, such as the Square Rattan and Porcelain Tray or the Jade Galaxy 3-Section Server from Target.

Cookbooks—While all foodies are bound to have their share of cookbooks, they're also likely to be interested in new ones, such as The Splendid Table’s How to Eat Weekends: New Recipes, Stories, and Opinions from Public Radio’s Award-Winning Food Show, released this year. This and many other cookbooks are available locally at Walmart and Target.

Cooking classes—Hook your foodie up with a gift certificate for a nearby cooking class. Dierbergs offers cooking classes in several locations near Wentzville.

Actual food (or gift certificates)—If you’re short on time or just not sure what your foodie needs, you can buy gift cards at a number of local grocery stores and restaurants.
