Sheriff's Department Seizes 60 Pounds of Marijuana After Traffic Stop

Officials found a secret compartment in the rear of the pickup that contained the illegal cargo.

The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department seized about 60 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near Wentzville.

A St. Charles County deputy pulled over a pickup truck for a traffic stop at about 9:17 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-70 at the 205 mile marker.

A sheriff’s department report said that during a consensual and probable cause search, officers found a hidden compartment in the rear of the pickup with 37 packages of high-grade marijuana.

Lt. Craig McGuire, of the Sheriff’s Department, said there was about 60 pounds of marijuana.

The driver, Phillip L. Sullivan, 25, of Trinidad, CA, told the deputy he was traveling from California to Bowling Green, KY.

Sullivan was charged Monday in St. Charles County Circuit Court with distributing marijuana.
