Special Board Meeting Wednesday to Appoint Ward 3 Alderman
The special meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., just prior to the regular meeting.
The Wentzville Board of Aldermen will be holding a special meeting on Wed., July 11 just prior to their regular meeting for the purpose of appointing an alderman to the empty Ward 3 seat. The meetings are held in the council chambers at city hall.
The board recently passed a procedure for taking applications for empty seats in order to let residents know that a vacancy exists and to provide a pool of interested persons. The mayor may use this pool when choosing an appointment to the seat.
The board will then vote to approve the appointment.
Four Ward 3 residents have applied for the vacancy:
- Michael W. Hays, resident since 1989
- Darrel B. Lackey, resident since 1975
- Vicky L. Stewart, resident since 1994
- Keith Crouch, resident since 2007
The Ward 3 vacancy was created when Alderman Nick Guccione won the election for mayor in April. At times, Guccione and the board have been at odds about the appointment.
