Up to Bat, Time to Tailgate

Celebrate the baseball season in style.

To be honest, it really isn’t spring for me until the baseball season starts. I love sitting at a bar and grill with the game on in the background or barbequing on the back porch with the radio on. However, nothing compares to being in the stadium, soaking up the electricity in the atmosphere and cheering on your favorite team (the Cardinals, of course)! But who says you can’t have the perks of both? Why should tailgating be reserved for football?

First and foremost, you need a grill. Start your shopping trip at Target and check out the Weber Go-Anywhere charcoal grill for $44.99. If you prefer gas over charcoal, take a good look at the miGrill Gas Grill. For $129.99, you get a snazzy modular design that comes with built-in speakers! Enjoy the pre-game without having to drain your car battery. Now, these grills are perfect for a family outing or feeding a small group of the guys, but the more the merrier, right? Get Wal-Mart’s Coleman Paul Jr. Roadtrip for $148.54, or for a little more workspace, pick up the Camp Chef 3-burner grill for $275.54.

Well, you’re hardly going to flip burgers with an ice scraper, so for a set of basic tools, pop by Bed Bath & Beyond for the Picnic Time 3-piece tool set in a handy-dandy tote for $29.99. Then again, if you’re a barbeque connoisseur, get Wal-Mart’s Mr. Bar-B-Q 18-piece tool set for only $18.95.

I can guess what you’re thinking at this point. What’s a party without a tasty, carbonated adult beverage? Bed Bath & Beyond solves this problem with their “instant bar,” a 60-quart cooler on -wheels to keep your canned and bottled drinks ice cool. If instead you prefer that fresh-from-the-tap taste, or perhaps you are entertaining a larger group, look into the Keg-O-Rator for $499.99 which holds and cools up to half a keg.

If your spare seating is dented and rusted, or ripped and mildewed, it might be time to pick up something new. Bed Bath & Beyond offers your basic collapsible lawn chair for $9.99 with arms and cupholder. Or, for a sturdier and more comfortable option, get a pair of sling folding chairs for $59.99.

With your new collection of tailgating accessories, you can get the most of your sports experiences, especially this time of year when it’s officially spring and the weather is perfect for grilling. Root, root root and enjoy the new season!
