What Should Go Here: Former US Fidelis Building, Wentzville Crossings

Each week, we highlight a vacant commercial space and ask: What business would you like to see move into this area?

We want Wentzville Patch to be a place where you can not only find out what's going on around town, but a place where you can share your thoughts and ideas with neighbors.

Our newest feature—Visions for Vacancies—aims to help residents take an active role in planning and building their community.

Each week, we'll highlight a vacant commercial space and ask what you would like to see move into this area? If you know of an area you'd like to see highlighted, tell us in the comments.

This week, we are taking a look at the former home of US Fidelis, Wentzville Crossings Mall. You may remember it as the old Belz mall. Element Church uses part of the building, but 345,000+ sq. ft. of the space is available.

If it were up to you, what would you like to see there? What do you think would best serve the Wentzville community in that spot?

I keep talking about IKEA coming to Wentzville, too! Wentzville would be perfect to have an IKEA - close to St. Louis and also close to Columbia and Kansas City. I thought the prime real estate for IKEA though would be off the newest section of Interstate Drive between Wilmer and Hepperman.

It would have been an ideal place for the SAM's Club they are currently building on May road - much better visibility from the road and it would not have been an intrusion into our neighborhood.

GMAC and other admin associated with the GM plant. The space would also provide for R&D and some hitech jobs. Most importantly GM would be able to shave about 7 mil off the plant expansion cost.

Although I agree 100% with Terry, we fought that argument and lost the battle. An outlet mall would be great, or any type of mall. Chesterfield is fighting the outlet mall that's going there because it will take away from all the other malls they have. I say, let's bring them to Wentzville, no such competition here!

The only problem with an outlet mall - they had it there before and it didnt fly. Also with the mall located in LSL now with all of the outlet stores!

LSL!

A perfect place for Renkin Technical School !!!I Its a great quality school currently located in old downtown St Louis.
St Charles County needs better qualified technical w\work force!!
The site has plenty of space for class rooms and parking, and is easily accessable to all fo St Charles and Warren Counties.

The City needs to work on getting IKEA to move here. It's an awesome store and anywhere in Wentzville would be the perfect place.
