What Should Go Here: New Strip Mall Along Wentzville Parkway

Each week, we highlight a vacant commercial space and ask: What business would you like to see move into this area?

We want Wentzville Patch to be a place where you can not only find out what's going on around town, but a place where you can share your thoughts and ideas with neighbors.

Our newest feature—Visions for Vacancies—aims to help residents take an active role in planning and building their community.

Each week, we'll highlight a vacant commercial space and ask what you would like to see move into this area? If you know of an area you'd like to see highlighted, tell us in the comments.

This week, we are taking a look at the new strip mall along Wentzville Parkway right in front of Target. The storefronts seem ideal for a restaurant—Jimmy Johns and Starbucks are right near by—and a dentist's office already has claim to one of the spots.

If it were up to you, what would you like to see there? What do you think would best serve the Wentzville community in that spot?

It wouldn't fit in that space, but Wentzville needs a Trader Joe's. An indoor aquatic center would also be great!

A Trader Joe's would be perfect!

I agree with Kelly. My wish list for Wentzville is: Trader Joes, IKEA, and a movie theater Sadly, none of those places will fit in this spot. A place like Melanie's, or a costume jewelry place would be nice.

Trader joes definitely and it would get business from surrounding cities as there is no trader joes for 20 miles! A nice restaurant such as cheesecake factory or bonefish grill or pf changs!

A dance studio, or a place where you can take art lessons.

@Jaime Coming from Bolingbrook, IL, where there was an IKEA in place, I would 100 percent get behind IKEA coming to the area. That place is awesome! Somehow I don't think it would fit in this shopping center though :) I would like to see an independent deli, though! That would be a perfect lunch spot!

I would like to see a Trader Joes, Whole Foods and a McAlisters Deli come to Wentzville. None of these would fit in this space but they would be nice to have.

What Wentzville really needs is a Long John Silver. The only one in St. Charles County is miles away. It's a great fish restaurant but poorly represented in the area.

I would love to see a Captain D's in Wentzville, but I would settle for a Long John Silver.

I agree that a Long John Silver or Captain D's. There is not a decent fish place around.

How about we destroy the retail space ..... Plenty of unused retail space through out the city..... Who needs another chain restaurant or retail giant....
