Welcome! I'm really excited, because I get to blog about my passion...Reiki. Not to mention, a few other holistic services and products out there. So, what is Reiki? Simply put, Reiki is a form of energy healing. How does it work? The Reiki energy will flow from palms of the practitioner's hands into the client's body. This can be done in-person or across the country/world. Reiki energy is not limited by time or distance. This energy then "heals" or "balances" any physical, mental, or emotional issues a person may have at the time. Wow! That was a lot of information, but just to be safe...
Disclaimer alert (even doctor's use them)! Please remember, Reiki is a natural method of energy balancing to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It can involve "the laying on of hands" although this is not required for Reiki to be effective. It is not meant as a substitute for medical, or psychological, diagnosis and treatment. In fact, it can readily compliment other forms of therapy. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, or with the treatment of a licensed medical professional.
Okay, where was I? Oh yeah, Reiki can be (sometimes) a touchy subject with organized religious establishments (that's a whole other post). That being said, Missouri is quite conservative. So, I decided to start this blog, because I know that there are others out there like me. I'm just having a really really hard time finding them.
"Who's like me?" People who love to meditate, believe that people are essentially good, have a positive view for almost every situation (I have been accused of being too positive numerous times), love the sound of crystal bowls being played, need our chakra's balanced, and believe salt lamps really do work! I've either got your attention or I've lost you already. That's okay. Everyone is different with different interests and beliefs. More importantly, everyone has a right to them.
Again, I'm excited but nervous to promote Reiki and all the other holistic services/products I believe in...I believe this is my purpose though. Send some positive energy out into the world. The world needs it!
I can't wait to get responses to this blog...it was a little "heavy" with information, but I had to start somewhere. If you have had a Reiki session, and want to share your experience, then feel free to comment. If you think it's just more new age stuff, then feel free to comment. Like I said above, everyone's different with different views. I'm just hoping to open a few people's minds, and educate some others along the way! Hope you join me on this journey!

Carrie,
I have heard about this and I am very interested. You definitely caught my attention. Tell me more... Where do I make an appointment? Any recommendations? What's the Cost? I also have been told that I am too nice, I try to touch someone's life everyday. There has been some negativity with my attitude lately. Will this help me get back on the right path? Awesome information Thankyou so much, Denita Johnston

Hi Denita, I am actually a Reiki Master Practitioner, and provide Reiki sessions to the community. Check out my website at www.carrie-reiki-energy.com. As of right now, that I know of, I am the only active Reiki practitioner in the local area. Like I said, I'm sure there are others out there, and I'm hoping this blog will bring them forward. :) Reiki can definitely help you with negativity. I will PM you with answers to your specific questions.
Side note: Caregivers are notorious for giving away their energy to patients, loved ones, and friends. This is often why people feel depleted emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Reiki is a great way to recover and re-energize. :) Carrie

Does Reiki have roots in any type of spirituality? What do you have to do to become a master practitioner?

Those are great questions!
It is important that it be understood that Reiki is NOT a religion. It does not require the dismissal of your faith/religious beliefs. It simply requires your openness to receiving the positive energy that Reiki provides...Reiki's roots are based on the teachings of Mikao Usui who was from Japan. He was inspired by his early spiritual training and the Buddhist healing arts.
To become a Reiki Master, which is stage 3 of the Reiki learning, involves months of studying one-on-one with a certified Reiki Master. This enhances credibility in the alternative and holistic medicine areas, and it eventually becomes the cornerstone of being a Reiki practitioner.
Hope this answered your questions, and maybe made you ask a few more. Look for more on my blog about these subjects! Thanks! Carrie

I personally don't believe in this type of "healing" but I do believe that a positive attitude will make you feel better. I also believe that being with fun energetic friends make you fun and energetic. I believe the opposite is true also negativity breeds negativity. Good luck spreading your word and your art. What could go wrong!?
