LINC Hosts National Night Out

LINC St. Charles County has been quietly changing lives in Western St. Charles County for over 20 years.  Many people are not aware of this organization or the community service it provides.  LINC is located at #9 Love Park Lane about a mile off of Mexico in Wentzville.  The unobtrusive, tan metal building houses a subsidized day care, a food pantry, a large meeting room, a computer lab and office space for case management and the Crisis Nursery.   On the grounds are football and baseball fields and a community garden.

LINC served over 3000 lunches this summer to area children many of whom qualify for free and reduced price lunches in area public schools.  These children don’t stop needing lunches during the summer months, but without a summer lunch program such as the one provided by LINC, many families would not be able to afford to provide lunches for their children.  In fact, some of these children depend on the school lunches, and those provided by LINC in the summer, for much of their nutrition.  All of these lunches were prepared, served, and cleaned up by one paid intern and a host of volunteers.

LINC will be participating in the National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  Wentzville Fire and Police Department will be there along with the Mayor of Wentzville and the aldermen.  A Glorious Wreck will be providing musical entertainment.  The community garden workers will be providing taste tests of recipes using the produce from the garden.  First Baptist Church Wentzville will be providing fresh fruits & vegetables and Sam’s Club will be providing refreshment.  There will also be a bounce house for the younger kids, popcorn, sno cones and cotton candy.  Parents As Teachers will be available and the Day Care will be hosting an open house.   Everyone is invited to attend.
