Local teen leader takes part in national FEMA Youth Preparedness Council

Emily Rosenblum of Wentzville has been appointed to FEMA’s National Youth Preparedness Council for FEMA Region VII, which serves Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. As a distinguished council representative, she supports FEMA’s emphasis on involving the whole community in disaster-preparedness related activities.

As a TEEN CERT instructor assistant for the Mid America Teen Community Emergency Response Team (MATC), Emily participates in numerous disaster exercises, is an active TEEN CERT spokesperson and continues to advocate disaster preparedness every chance she gets.  She has volunteered hundreds of hours with TEEN CERT training and events, helping the Greater St. Louis Area Council Boy Scouts of America and Girls Scouts of Eastern Missouri with merit badges and award requirements, as well as the Sam “Ready I Am” program that educates younger children about natural disaster hazards.  Emily always considers those with learning disabilities and access and functional needs when designing disaster response exercises.
