Rain Doesn't Stop the Renaissance Faire
The 13th annual St. Louis Renaissance Faire took place at Rotary Park in Wentzville.
The 13th annual St. Louis Renaissance Faire carried on despite light rain this weekend in the forested area of Wentzville's . Numerous festivities took place throughout the day including live singing and dancing, theatrical stage performances, fencing matches and jousting. Everything in the faire set the stage for village life in 16th century France.
A man dressed as the king paraded around the village with members of his royal court. Blacksmiths created metal tools in their workshop, while a man gave lessons on proper use of the weapons of the era. The costumes were elaborate and creatively designed. It was a event the entire family could enjoy.
"This faire gives people the opportunity to participate in something that they are not inundated with the rest of the year. It harkens back to a simpler time of life," said Bob Stanza, president of the Renaissance St. Louis organization. The faire emphasizes historical education in a fun and memorable way.
