Wabash Days in Wentzville Featured Hot Rods, Hot Dogs

Main Street was jammed with crafts, food and classic cars.

The sweet aroma of barbecue wafted up Main Street Sunday. It was the last day of 's Wabash Days and judging by the crowd, everyone was hungry and looking for a little piece of shade.

The South side of the tracks featured Hot Rods, arts and craft booths and a sound system that played music from the 50's and 60's.

The North side had Freese's Pond belting out Marshall Tucker, carnival rides for the kids and enough barbecue to feed an army. The kids headed straight for the rides and ran from line to line with sticky fingers and smiles a mile wide while the parents tried to keep up.

Main Street was the place to be for car buffs. Mustangs, Impalas Chevelles, and Camaros were just a few of the muscle cars on display. A 1934 Lafayette and a 1950 Willy's Jeepster were not the fastest cars there but were attracting big crowds with lots of questions.

President Diane Ransom was proud to show the artwork from the middle and high school students who entered their posters in the "Wabash Days" poster contest.
