Wentzville's Teacher of the Year to Serve as Wabash Parade Grand Marshal

Duello Elementary teacher Jennifer Gorton will lead the parade at noon on Sat., Aug. 24.

Duello Elementary 4th grade teacher Jennifer Gorton has been chosen to serve as the Honorary Grand Marshal of the Wabash Days Community Club Parade on Sat., August 24. 

Mrs. Gorton was selected as the Wentzville School District “Teacher of the Year” for the 2012-13 school year. She is beginning her fifth year with the Wentzville School District, and has previously taught in the Hazelwood and Ferguson-Florissant School Districts.

Mrs. Gorton serves as the grade level chair and has won the Community Builder Award at Duello for the past two years. She says “you’re never too old to learn” and proved that when she received her Master’s Degree from Missouri Baptist earlier this year. Mrs. Gorton celebrates each student as an individual, and works diligently to meet the needs of every child and make them feel successful and proud. 

Wabash Days, now in its 10th year, is a celebration of Wentzville’s history and railroad heritage. The parade starts at noon on Sat., Aug. 24, and both the Holt and Timberland High School marching bands will participate in the parade.

The parade will start at the Wentzville Community Club and move east onto West Main and proceed to Linn where it will turn left, crossing the railroad tracks, turn right onto Pearce and then turn left onto Luetkenhaus Blvd. and end at the American Legion Hall.
