Cabin Fever Book Fair Continues Next Weekend

Next weekend's book fair will offer children's books, VHS tapes and books-on-tape.

Book fair lovers didn't have to wait for spring to indulge in a few hours of browsing for great titles at bargain-basement prices.

The Friends of the Library, a volunteer group associated with the St. Charles City-County Library District, offered the first of its with a great variety of hardcover books, paperbacks and tapes for sale.

Last weekend's sale offered adult fiction, science fiction and westerns. The book fairs are being held at the .

At Friday's sale a handful of shoppers quickly turned into a crowd when schools dismissed and the work day ended. By 4 p.m., the VFW parking lot was nearly full.

Cari Diaz of St. Peters was scanning the titles at a long table of VHS video tapes. "I found some old movies that I like," Diaz said, and she pulled out some tapes of Brigitte Bardot films.

The fun continues next weekend, when children's books and nonfiction will be offered for sale. Hours for the sale are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The fairs are organized and staffed by a the members of Friends of the Library, who help raise funds for special programs and services like children's summer reading programs, books discussion kits and online book clubs.
