'Listen To Your Mother' Seeking Submissions for St. Louis Show

The performance organization wants to hear stories from local moms. Have yours chosen and be part of the show in Chesterfield on May 11.

Calling all mothers: Do you have a crazy or heartwarming story that you want to share? Then a special performance coming to Chesterfield in May is your chance to tell it.

Listen to Your Mother (LTYM) is part of a national series of 24 live readings that will take place across the country to celebrate Mother’s Day 2013. The show will be on Saturday, May 11, at the St. Luke's Institute for Health Education, 232 South Woods Mill Road, in Chesterfield.

St. Louis is among 24 cities to be selected to host this special performance, which will feature some of St. Louis’ most talented writers and bloggers on the beauty, the best, and the barely rested of motherhood. Television personality Virginia Kerr of Great Day St. Louis will host the event.

Written submissions are now being accepted being online by email to LTYMSTL@gmail.com through Feb. 15, and auditions will be Feb. 28 and March 2.

Born of the creative work of parents who publish online, each production is directed, produced, and performed by local communities, for local communities, with a percentage of ticket sales going a local nonprofit cause. The St. Louis beneficiary is Connections to Success, which succeeds in breaking the cycle of poverty one family at a time through resources, hope, and a plan.

Beginning with one show in Madison, WI, in 2010, five cities hosted LTYM shows in 2011, then 10 in 2012, and a national Mother's Day movement was born.

“You don’t have to call yourself a writer or be an experienced speaker. We’re looking for regular everyday people who want to share their story from their heart,” said Ellie Grossman, director/producer of LTYM St. Louis. “We have a vast pool of talent in the St. Louis area, and I’m excited to put our great community in the spotlight.”
