Wentzville's Soapbox Race Is a 'Hill of Thrills'

The seventh annual race is Sunday, Sept. 8.

For the seventh year, Wentzville's Hill of Thrills Soapbox Race will test the skill of young drivers on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The drivers are randomly assigned to the cars, which are donated by businesses and organizations, and they'll race against time as gravity propels them down the hill at Progress Park.

Because of the limitations of the cars, drivers must be between 4 feet and 5 feet tall and weigh between 55 and 120 pounds. A maximum of 200 racers are accepted.

The event begins at noon. This year's race will feature a special opening ceremony for U.S. Veterans.

Rain date is September 15.
