Wentzville City Administrator Michael McDowell Dies

Mayor Nick Guccione announced this morning that Wentzville's City Administrator, Michael McDowell, has died.

Guccione has called an emergency meeting for the board of aldermen at 1 p. m.

“Words cannot adequately express the sadness of the Wentzville family when we heard the news about the passing of Mike McDowell. My prayers and the prayers of the Board of Aldermen and city staff go out to Mike’s wife, children, grandchildren and extended family,” Guccione said in a city press release.

“In his short tenure with Wentzville, Mike has made a positive impact on the city, streamlining government to better serve the citizens and changing processes to provide better delivery of services. He was a professional and a good friend. We will miss him so much.”

McDowell only was named as Wentzville's new chief administrator in January after the city hired him from Olivette, where he was the city manager for years. He started in the post in March and was paid $122,400.

Prior to McDowell, Wentzville had been without a permanent city administrator since Dianna Wright left in August of 2011.
