Firehouse Subs Coming to Wentzville

The franchise, started by two former firefighters, collects funds to help provide firefighters with equipment and other assistance.

Firehouse Subs is coming to Wentzville, with an opening date projected for late summer.

Brian Collins, owner of the O'Fallon Firehouse Subs store, confirmed to Patch that he would be opening another location in a building to be constructed on an outlot in the Kohl's shopping center on West Pearce Boulevard.

Collins said he will be working with officials from the Wentzville Fire Protection District to decorate the store with photos and memorabilia just as the O'Fallon store now features the O'Fallon department.

Firehouse Subs is also committed to helping local heroes in the community.

According to the website, in 2005 the restaurant established a foundation its non-profit, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, "with the goal to provide funding, life-saving equipment, disaster assistance and educational opportunities for first-responders and public safety organizations."

In Firehouse Sub restaurants, customers can help the cause by donating spare change to canisters in the stores, rounding up to the nearest dollar or by purchasing used five-gallon pickle buckets for $2.

Just this week, the O'Fallon store donated more than $17,000 worth of equipment to the O'Fallon Fire Protection District.
