  • When/Where? , 200 East 4th St. in Wentzville on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • What? Area residents who attend Wentzville’s Public Works Festival and Trivia Event will learn how the city handles services like road construction and maintenance, water, storm water, waste water and recycling, while enjoying scavenger hunts, food and other activities at this free event.

  • When/Where? , 968 Meyer Rd. in Wentzville on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10:30-11:15 a.m.  
  • What? Children ages 2-5 years old are invited to create a bubble mania, using machine bubblers, bubble wands and much more at the Wentzville Swimming Pool. Tickets are $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Call 636-332-9236 for more information.

Tale Waggers Love on A Leash

  • When/Where? 1300 North Main Street in O'Fallon from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. 
  • What? Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can read to the dogs in this program offered by the members of Love on a Leash. Kids can bring their own books or choose one at the library and read for 10 minutes to to a visiting dog to help build reading skills and confidence. As of Wednesday, there were 19 openings for the event. Sign up on the St. Charles City-County Library District site

  • When/Where? , 520 North Main Ctr. in St. Charles on Friday, Oct. 14 from 7 p.m. until midnight. 
  • What? Art Romp 2011 is an interactive event, featuring printmaking, glass blowing, iron pouring, photography, welding, wheel throwing and much more. Participants can make their own art, watch others demonstrate their skills, enjoy live music and food. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or by calling 636-255-0270. 

  • When/Where? In the west parking lot at , 900 T.R. Hughes Boulevard, O’Fallon on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
  • What? Saturday is your last chance to check out locally grown, fresh picked fruits, veggies and herbs, plus local honey, meat, eggs, baked goods, jams and jellies, gourmet items, original art, accessories, hand-made crafts and more. Fleur de Lis Garden Society hosts Rain Garden Program

  • When/Where? , 2650 Tri Sports Circle, O'Fallon on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. 
  • What? Learn how to turn that swampy, low or bare spot in your lawn into a low-maintenance garden that attracts butterflies and birds. The free workshop features experts who will provide tips on the best plants for rain gardens, choosing the best site, avoiding common mistakes and more. To register call 636-462-3025 or register online.

  • When/Where? U.S. Cellular, 6091 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 12-4 p.m. 
  • What? Parents are invited to bring the kids out dressed in their Halloween costumes to paint pumpkins, play in a bounce house and see farm animals from Cindy's Zoo. Cottleville Police and Fire Departments will also be on site to provide parents with helpful Halloween safety tips and parents will also be able to pick up a free child identification kit.   • When/Where? 274 Mid Rivers Ctr, St. Peters on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. 
  • What? October Kids' Fest will benefit Saints Joachim and Ann Food Pantry. For a canned food donation per person, kids can enter a costume contest enjoy carnival games and check out the craft table. 

Paint New Town Pink

  • When/Where? , 3200 Rue Royale in St. Charles on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 5-8 p.m. 
  • What? New town businesses will display pink to promote breast cancer screening and research. Business owners are offering a number of ways that people can donate to the St. Louis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in memory of New Town resident Lisa Brewer.   • When/Where? , on Meadows Circle Drive in Lake Saint Louis on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • What? The Meadows features Fire Safety Day, complete with fire trucks, ambulances, helicopters, police cars, rescue boats, bounce houses and music to entertain both adults and kids. The will feature a smoke house, in addition to other equipment displays from neighboring fire district friends to promote fire safety. 

  • When/Where? , 2300 West Clay St. at Lindenwood University in St. Charles on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. 
  • What? Direct from Beijing, the National Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China showcase their grace, strength and aerial prowess. Prices range from $24 to $38.50. Tickets are available online
