Heroes Pub & Grill Has Fun Every Night of the Week

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Lake Saint Louis Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Heroes Pub & Grill

Overview: Classic bar food teamed with nightly events and drink specials. Heroes has a casual atmosphere where you can "come by to meet old friends or make new ones." Focus is more on the drinks than the food, though the food is good.

Decor: Nothing fancy, standard bar scene with a homey feel.

The Drinks: Jager Bomb anyone? Heroes could probably make you any drink you wanted, but they specialize in good old pitchers, buckets and and bottles of beer with nightly price specials and Wednesday $4 Jager Bombs, not to mention "buy 1 get 1"mixed drink free from 10 p.m. to closing.

Appetizers: Simple, simple, simple, but in a good way - hearty bar food including cream cheese poppers, loaded nachos (with tomatoes, chili, onions, cheese, jalapenos) and firehouse chicken tenders. They feature a wide variety of chicken wing flavors, including Four Alarm, Cajun, Honey Mustard and BBQ.

Entrees: Choice of sandwich varieties or salads. Salads include options like grilled or fried chicken salad with a buffalo chicken option, Italian or Chicken Fajita salad. Try a Heroes double cheeseburger to soak up some of the alcohol, a turkey melt or Big Bob's Fish Sandwich (I have yet to determine who Big Bob is). Sandwiches are served with either french fried, onion rings or tater tots.

Signature dish: Chicken wings.

Service: Fast and friendly, but I'm betting the place is packed on Fridays and Saturdays.

Weekly events:

• Monday - Blind Draw Dart Tournaments - starts at 7:30 p.m. Munch on 35 cent wings and chug $3 pitchers of Bud Light and Miller Lite.
• Tuesday - Texas Hold 'Em Poker - starts at 7:30 p.m.. $1 PBR and Natty Ice bottles.
• Wednesday - Dart Leagues - $10 beer buckets, $4 Jager Bombs, buy 1 get 1 mixed drink free 10 to close.
• Thursday - Texas Hold ' Em Poker - starts at 7:30 p.m. $2 Miller Lite, $4 and Bomb drink.
• Friday - DJ/Karaoke- who doesn't love drunken singing? 9:00 p.m. until close. $5 pitchers of Bud Light and Miller Lite.
• Saturday - DJ/Karaoke - 9:00 p.m. until close. Buy 1 get 1 mixed drink 5:00 - 10:00 p.m.
• Happy Hour Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.. $2 rail drinks, $2 domestic beers, $4 Jager Bombs.
