Lake Saint Louis Woman Among Customers Scammed by SaveMore.Com

Customers from all over the St. Louis area have complained to the Better Business Bureau about the Texas-based coupon provider.

An online coupon provider has come under scrutiny by the Better Business Bureau following more than 1,000 complaints from customers in Lake Saint Louis, St. Charles, St. Louis and throughout the United States.

The Texas-based company, SaveMore.com, allegedly failed to deliver promised coupons paid for by customers seeking deals from businesses such as bookstores and beauty product providers as well as places like fast food restaurants.

“This company is a complete scam,” a customer from Ballwin told the Better Business Bureau.

“We were ripped off,” a man from Florissant said. The Lake Saint Louis women told the BBB that she had purchased a fast-food discount coupon that she never received.

The Better Business Bureau reports that customers from 45 states filed complaints against the company in the last 10 months. More than 50 complaints were collected from Missouri and Illinois alone.

The BBB also warned that the business with close ties to Douglas Van Arsdale, "founder of the notorious debt settlement company, Credit Solutions of America," bureau representatives said in a written news statement.

The BBB made the following suggestions for customers considering purchasing discount coupons through a third-party:

  • Look closely at the history of both the coupon sellers and the businesses that will be redeeming the coupons.
  • Buy only those items or services you truly need or want.
  • Pay with a credit card whenever possible, in case you need to challenge the charge.
  • Check for a BBB Business Review by going to www.bbb.org or by calling 314-645-3300.
