Old Shell Station to be Demolished for Relocation of Hapkido USA

The old service station building and canopy will be demolished to make room for parking.

, currently located at 513 West Pearce, will be relocating across the street to 600 West Pearce—and the old Shell Service Station that is currently on that spot will be demolished to make room for parking at the new facility.

Both the Planning and Zoning Commission and the approved the new site plan, which will create a total of 55 parking spaces on the property.

The eastern entrance to the lot will be removed, with a landscape buffer built in its place, which city staff said will improve traffic safety on West Pearce.

Hapkido USA will occupy the large L-shaped building at the back of the property. According to the company's website, Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido "is a very serious system of self-defense that is often taught to Military Special Forces as well as local, state and federal law enforcement agencies." The discipline features kicks, strikes, joint locks, throws, pinning techniques, weapons (short sticks, cane, rope), and pressure points along with breathing exercises.
