Raw Burger Controversy Hits Wentzville

Should a fast-food employee reimburse for the entire order when a raw burger is returned?

A YouTube video taken by a customer of the Wentzville McDonald's is generating a lot of controversy: Was the customer was too demanding or was the McDonald's employee uncooperative?

A YouTube commenter said, "What's wrong with you people? She was never rude, she was never ignorant. The customer got more enraged than she did. She was very calm as she was trained to be. There is absolutely NO WAY you get a refund for merchandise not returned, no matter where you go."

Along with the comments posted directly to YouTube, the issue has generated comments on the Facebook page of Joe Pro, the customer who created the drive-thru video.

A Facebook user who watched the video said "Anyone who thinks a partial refund is fair after being served a health hazard is an idiot. It IS a business after all... and bad publicity will cost them more than refunding the receipt total."

WARNING: If you click the link to the Facebook page or read the comments on YouTube, beware—the language is more than a bit salty.

What do you think? Should a customer returning a single item expect to have the entire order refunded? Tell us in the comments. (And remember, here at Patch, comments with profanity will be deleted as per our Terms of Use.)
