Study Says Wentzville Commuters Have it Bad

Most Wentzville workers travel between 15-44 minutes to get to their place of business.

A new study from The Business Journals argues  commuters have the most difficult time getting to work when compared to similar-sized Missouri communities.

The study, which dissected commuting data for more than 3,000 municipalities between 10,000 and 50,000, showed more than half of Wentzville workes have drive times between 15 to 44 minutes. Even worse, 23.78 percent of commuters drive more than 45 minutes. Only 21.63 percent drive less than 14 minutes to work.

Nationally, just 15.5 percent travel 45 minutes or more to get to work. Of course, not all communities are located roughly 40 miles from a major U.S. city.

The study, according to a report, awarded points for every commuter who takes less than 30 minutes to get from home to his or her job, and it took away points for every commuter above that threshold. The raw data came from the five-year version of the 's 2009 American Community Survey.

Two factors, the report said, were of primary importance in the On Numbers rankings: communities with a strong local supply of jobs and a smooth traffic flow receive the best scores.
