Wentzville has been buzzing with the hum of national news coverage over the past week or so.

The announcement last Thursday that General Motors planned to was news that resonated around the country. The second shift at the will add 400 jobs in January. The other jobs will be added as the expansion is complete and work begins on the new Chevrolet Colorado truck.

The St. Louis Beacon looked into Gov. Jay Nixon's task force on the automotive industry and how that played a role in keeping manufacturing jobs in the state of Missouri. The governor's own web site includes a video of his complete remarks at the GM announcement.

AutoEvolution notes that production of the new Colorado, expected to start here in 2013, is currently taking place in Thailand. The current version of the Colorado is made in Shreveport, LA. The Louisiana plant is slated to close in 2012.

The GM plant expansion is eligible for tax breaks under the Missouri Manufacturing Jobs Act, according to Missouri News Horizon. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch also probed into the Missouri Manufacturing Jobs Act and the role it played in adding jobs in Wentzville.
