Have the Winter Blues? Try a Holistic Approach!

Still feeling down after the holidays or have the winter blues? I did, too!

I'm going to be honest, the holidays kicked my butt this year. I'm pretty sure I am still in recovery at this point.

Getting back to a routine has been a relief. In defense of the holidays, I will admit there were a couple of birthday parties thrown in there that I hosted, so take Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and the birthdays and I've had a very busy two and a half months.

I know it hasn't really been that long, but it feels like forever. I'm pretty sure that I overdid it and have paid for it. Lately, my energy level has been at zero—let's not even talk about motivation. I tried many different holistic and metaphysical solutions to try to fix this issue: sage, meditation, visualization, exercise and energy healing. Though they all helped at some level, I never quite felt completely back to normal.

Finally, I asked for advice from a  few people in the group I organize, The Wentzville Holistic Adventurers Group (WHAG). It's a non-profit group.

Low and behold, I got some great suggestions!

The simplest being, "get out into the sun at least 15 minutes a day." Oh yeah! Sometimes, it is the simplest solution we think of last. Though meditation, energy healing and other holistic techniques can be powerful healing techniques, sometimes it's just allowing your body to take care of itself.

So slap on some sunblock and step into the sunshine (when we have sunshine that is...). The WHAG group now has 24 members. A lot of people are from this area, but surprisingly we get a lot of members from St. Louis.

I often hear, "I've been looking for a group like this!" We meet at the Corporate Library in Wentzville each month for meditations, alternative/complementary medicine and metaphysical discussions. You can email me if you are interested in attending a meeting or you can find us at meetup.com.

The people in the group are very kind, accepting and non-judgemental. Something everyone could use a little more of in their life.

It's basically a safe place to ask questions that might get you weird looks from family or friends. Usually, they have to do with reincarnation, auras, angels, being vegan, energy healing and the law of attraction.

By the way, not all members believe in everything everyone else does—that is what is fantastic about the group! Take what you want and leave the rest.

Anyway, just wanted to touch base with everyone! Hope you survived the holidays mind, body and spirit-wise.
