Soapmaking? Yes please!

Where to start? First of all, let me say how much I adore and love my husband...No matter what metaphysical, Reiki, spiritual, organic, vegetarian, meditative path I have skipped down...he has ALWAYS supported me. Even now, as I am spreading my wings with the beginnings of my soap making business...he encourages me. Now really...how many people have people in their life they can say that about? If you know me and my husband, we are like night and day. Do we get frustrated with each other? Sure. Do we love each other madly? Absolutely. Our lives are not boring. Just wanted to put a big "THANK YOU" out in Internet world to him to know he is appreciated. :)  

Anyway, I have a Reiki business that I love...but I wanted to do something to incorporate that with an actual physical product. Soap is a hugely intimate product. It can literally touch your entire body. That is why if you really research the soap making industry...it will scare the shit out of you! It did me. I have psoriasis, which basically means that I have an overactive immune system. I really have a very mild case of it, and most people don't even know I have it...it still bothers me though. It's as if my body feels dry ALL the time. Unless it's summer and the sun helps a lot. However, no longer being a sun worshipper, I was trying to figure out something I could do for my skin...no product out there was helping...no moisturizer, lotion, soap, body wash...nothing. I refuse to take a pill for it, because like I said...my case is mild and I don't like taking pills. So, I'm not even sure how the two thoughts came together...but homemade soap making and metaphysical/new thought techniques sort of merged. Now, I do have soaps that have zero metaphysical/new thought techniques added to them. I completely get that some people are not into this at all, and just want to use healthy moisturizing natural hand made soaps because they are safer. So, I can cater to them also. A few of these have been listed on etsy.com, but I plan on having them at the "Wentzville Farmers Market" also.

However, my ultimate dream is to be able to provide metaphysical soaps to the metaphysical/new thought community. We are out there people...so beware! LOL...just kidding...we look like and act like everyone else. The difference is when you start to talk to us. :) We may have more of a "the cup is half full" sort of mentality. We also have a tendency to be less focused on the material aspects of life. Do we like having nice things? Sure. Does it define us and are they necessary? No way! 

Anyway, I am in the middle of creating an inventory for my soaps. In about a month, I plan on listing them on my website www.reikiinthebiblebelt.com and www.etsy.com. I will have both lye soap and lye-free "soaps"...and I can guarantee they are all vegan. Just a heads up...I hope you check it out...In the meantime, find something you can be passionate about and share it with the world. You'll notice that I am constantly brainstorming on ways I can give back to the community. Sorry I am not blogging as much as I should. I am just trying to walk the talk out here in Wentzville Missouri. :) Namaste, Carrie
