Just Like Kids

Spring is in the air. By now all of MLB’s 32 baseball cities have held their opening day. This past Monday I was fortunate enough to attend another one of the St. Louis Cardinals opening days with my dad and grandpa. There’s something about opening day in baseball that brings out the kid in us all. The packed stands, hot dogs, peanuts, and the roar of the crowd always bring back great memories. In St. Louis it’s the Clydesdales and Hall of Famers in their red jackets. This week we’ll once again take a look at life and sports, and discuss why we should all be “Just Like Kids” more often.

We need to have more joy in our lives. Joy is what comes to mind when I think of kids playing sports. They are happy to just to be playing a game. Kids have the biggest smiles on their faces when they are enjoying a sport.  Can’t you just picture the joyous scene of a group of young athletes taking the field with joy to play their favorite game? They are in the best moods and there isn’t a mean bone in their body. As adults we too often forget what it is like to be a kid. We let the hustle and bustle of our lives bog us down. It takes days like opening day in baseball to bring that joy back. But why should it? We should carry this joy with us all the time. So let’s let go of all the envy, bitterness, and complication in our lives and bring back the joy the kids have!
