What If?

implicity is genius. Sometimes the most simple ideas take off and catch fire. For instance, have you heard of or played Flappy Bird? It’s an insanely simple game with a simple name that is blowing up. It’s all harmless fun. Or is it? What if we found a better use of our time? This week’s post is geared towards the students and athletes out there.

What if we were as competitive about our grades as we are about our Flappy Bird score? So many students out there have borderline grades. Two percentage points separates them from achieving the next grade level. People will spend a great amount time playing a game to reach the next level, but what if it was used on something else? Often there is extra time in a study hall or end of a class, what would happen if that time were spent studying and making sure all your work was completed? I bet the borderline grade would improve. Instead of asking for extra credit when grades come out, what if we put down the game and re-read our notes or actually read a textbook? I bet you wouldn’t need to ask for extra credit. There is no reset button in life. You don’t get do-overs. A high score on Flappy Bird won’t get you a scholarship. It’s hard to see now, but when you’re older and have student loans to pay, you’re going to wish you had done more while in school.
