City 2 City 5K Runners Take to the Streets

The weather cooperated for the start of the race from Lake Saint Louis to Dardenne Prairie.

A few lingering raindrops and a gloomy gray sky didn't keep 140 runners and walkers from taking to the streets for the on Sat., Sept. 17.

The event, which was sponsored by the Lake Saint Louis-Dardenne Prairie Chamber of Commerce, started at in Lake Saint Louis and finished up at the Dardenne Prairie city hall.

Before the 8 a.m. start, runners gathered in The Meadows parking lot. The event drew serious runners, family groups, runners with strollers and runners with dogs.

Chamber President and CEO Gena Breyne said that the organizers had been watching the weather forecast carefully. "We were blessed to have it work out," she said. "It would be nice if it would be this way, not just for the race, but for all of today's events."
