Emergency Lane Closure On I-70 Tonight

MoDOT will make an emergency repair to a broken grate on westbound I-70.

One lane on westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River bridge will be closed from 2:30 p.m. through evening rush hour on Jan. 31 for emergency repairs to a broken drain grate, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Motorists are advised to avoid westbound I-70 for evening rush and use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings.  The additional lane reduction will leave only two lanes open for westbound I-70.

Both directions of I-70 are already reduced from five lanes in each direction down to three lanes in each direction and all traffic is using the eastbound bridge.

Crews are completing a major rehabilitation project on the 1958 westbound Blanchette Bridge. The westbound bridge closed in early November and scheduled to be complete in fall 2013.
