'Empty Bowls' at The Meadows Will Benefit Operation Food Search

One-of-a-kind ceramic bowls were donated by local artists and students.

Operation Food Search will be hosting their 3rd Annual Empty Bowls ceramic bowl sale on Saturday, June 9 at The Meadows. 

One-of-a-kind ceramic bowls created by local artists, teachers and students will be on sale at the fund-raiser with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting OFS’s O’Fallon food distribution center.

New to this year’s event, Operation Food Search will sell bowls at two locations within The Meadows: at the new Lake Saint Louis Farmers & Artists Market from 8 a.m. noon and in the Clock Tower Plaza from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

The event will also feature a pottery demonstration by noted St. Charles ceramist Bob Allen of the Foundry Art Centre beginning at 11 a.m. and a performance by the Dynamic Duo acoustic band from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Clock Tower Plaza.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Established in 1981, OFS has become the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area helping to feed the region's poor. The organization helps feed 120,000 people each month, nearly half of whom are children. OFS serves 30 Illinois and Missouri counties surrounding the St. Louis area through approximately 300 community agencies including emergency food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens. OFS distribution centers are located in University City and O’Fallon. OFS also offers nutrition education, promotes community gardens and provides food to children in low income families through their Operation Backpack program.
