Girl Scouts, Firefighters Celebrate National Cookie Day

Two local troops visited firefighters at Wentzville Fire Station #4 in O'Fallon.

Girl Scouts around the area celebrated National Cookie Day on February 8 by sharing cookies and milk with firefighters.

Wentzville Fire Station #4 on Orf Road in O'Fallon hosted two groups of scouts on Friday night.

Brownie Troop #49, under the leadership of Sarah Longwell, visited the station at 5 p.m. They were joined by Daisy Troop #4902, under the leadership of Annie Tobin-Bartlow, at 5:30 p.m.

The Brownie troop shared their experiences as Brownie scouts with the younger Daisies, who will be bridging to Brownies this spring.

The event took an unusual turn when the fire station received a call and the firefighters had to dash to their trucks. The girls, parents and troop leaders ran to the windows to see the trucks pulling out of the station with lights flashing and sirens sounding.

Girl Scout cookie orders will be delivered beginning Feb. 27. Booths will be set up between Feb. 27 and March 17 in locations around the Metro area.
