Lake Saint Louis from the "Other Side"

The editor sees a new side of Lake Saint Louis—from a boat!

Thanks to the Good Samaritan Pleasure Boating Club, I got to see a side of Lake Saint Louis that I have never seen in 15 years of living on its doorstep, and six months serving as the editor of Lake Saint Louis Patch.

The boating club was offering free boat tours of Lake Saint Louis during the On the Water Boat Show at Windjammer Pointe this past weekend.

Our wonderful tour guide, Kelly Luckett, guided the pontoon boat around Lake Saint Louis (counter-clockwise, as he pointed out, per the lake rules) and showed us some of the landmarks that I'd only seen from my normally land-based point of view—the main marina, Nelly's former residence, the ski club area (and yes, they were hard at practice!) and the Fidelis mansion.

I've always thought that Lake Saint Louis was an unusually beautiful city, but this new perspective made me realize how truly unique it is to the St. Louis area.
