Mid Rivers Mall Drive Road Work Will Force Lane Closures

Highly-trafficked St. Peters road will be given a facelift in the coming weeks.

The will shut down lanes for the next week. Work on the project started yesterday, Aug. 22.

Drivers can expect lane closures on northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive from McMenamy Road to Veterans Memorial Parkway near Interstate 70. The lane closures will begin tonight and continue until next Monday, Aug. 29. The lane closures are needed so road crews can replace concrete pavement as part of the resurfacing project.

To avoid the heavy traffic on the busy road, construction activity will take place overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. this week through Friday morning. Work will take place on the outer northbound lane. While crew will work at night, some portions of the outer northbound lane will remain closed during daytime hours this week and through the weekend to allow the new concrete to cure.

The resurfacing project is taking place between Mexico Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The resurfacing project will: remove damaged concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk sections; diamond-grind new and existing concrete pavement; and resurface existing asphalt pavement.

Concrete replacement work will continue on various lanes of Mid Rivers Mall Drive through Sept. 29, 2011.

Drivers can find signs posting alternate routes to reach businesses in the construction area. Alternate routes include South Church Street to McMenamy Road, Grand Teton Drive to Suemandy Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway to the north entrance to Mid Rivers Mall.
