Ceremony Will Commemorate Completion of Veterans Memorial Parkway Name Change

A quest started fifteen years ago will finally come to a close for Lake Saint Louis resident Ralph Barrale.

After a decade-and-a-half quest, Lake Saint Louis resident Ralph Barrale will finally see the ribbon cut on the last section of I-70 South Service Road to be renamed Veteran's Memorial Highway.

In 1998, Barrale, who served in World War II under General George Patton, got the idea to rename the roadway to honor veterans. St. Peters, St. Charles, O'Fallon and Lake Saint Louis completed the name change, but a portion of the road from Wentzville to Warrenton remained South Service Road until Barrale renewed his quest last year.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen approved the name change for its remaing portion of the roadway on March 13. Foristell made it official on March 18, and St. Charles County decided upon the change on March 25.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, a ceremony will be held at 10 Wentzville Marketplace (next to Enterprise Leasing) to honor the completion of the name change.
