Run for the Wall Revs Through Wentzville

Organization raises awareness for Vietnam veterans.

Motorcycle riders participating in Run for the Walls came through Monday and Tuesday.

Run for the Walls is a group that travels across the United States, taking a 10-day route to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. The riders arrive in Washington each year on the Sunday prior to Memorial Day. Along the way, the riders stop at memorials and veterans' organizations on their route.

The riders arrived Monday night at the Wentzville , stayed the night and took off again Tuesday morning after a wreath laying ceremony at Wentzville's Vietnam Memorial, which was erected in December of 1967.

The memorial sits just outside the 's House 1 and on Pearce Blvd.

The Fire Department honor guard presented the colors at the ceremony and laid the wreath at the base of the memorial. stood guard on either side of the memorial. The  band performed the National Anthem and My Country, Tis of Thee.

The riders were led in and out of town by a large contingent of law enforcement officers, which included motorcycle officers from , St. Charles County Sheriff's Department, and Jackson County, MO.
