SSM St. Joseph Offers Free Health Programs in November

The health center's locations in Lake Saint Louis and St. Charles County offers free programs and support groups for individuals with lung disease, diabetes and brain injuries.

SSM St. Joseph Heath Care is offering a number of free programs in November:

  • Pulmonary Education Class, 11:30 a.m., Mon., Nov. 7 at . Free class for people with lung disease and their families who would like to learn more about lung disease, medication and testing. Classes taught by nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and respiratory therapists. Classes held prior to the Better Breathers Club.Call 636-947-5682 for more information.
  • Better Breathers Club, 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Mon., Nov. 7 at SSM St. Joseph Health Center. Individuals who are living with chronic lung disease and their families. A free lunch is provided. Call 636-947-5682 for more information.
  • Sharing Losses Through Bereavement, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Mon., Nov. 7 and Mon., Nov. 21 at , 1187 Corporate Lake Drive. For families and friends who want to help understanding and coping with the death of a loved one. Sharing Losses provides a supportive group setting in which to discuss the process of grief, to identify and to cope with emotions, such as emptiness, loneliness, anger and guilt. The group is open to anyone in the community who has experience the loss of a loved one. Regularly held the first and third Mondays of the month. To register, please call 314-SSM-DOCS (776-3627)
  • Diabetes Information Nights – Support Group, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., Tues., Nov. 8 in the St. Charles Room at SSM St. Joseph Health Center. A diabetes topic is presented on the second Tuesday of each month (except June, July, August and December) by a certified diabetes educator or a speaker with expertise in the topic to be discussed (a physician, dietitian, etc.).   • Mended Hearts Support Group, 6:30 p.m., Tues., Nov. 8 in the St. Peters Room at SSM St. Joseph Health Center. (The location for this meeting alternates each month between the St. Peters Room at SSM St. Joseph Health Center and Healthwise at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.) This group's purpose is "to inspire hope for heart disease patients and their families." Call 636-947-5682 for more information.
  • Knee and Hip Pain Seminar, 6 p.m., Wed., Nov. 9 at , 158 Bear Creek Dr., Wentzville. Seminar will share information about the latest treatments for knee and hip pain and joint replacement options, and is sponsored by the SSM Joint Replacement Center. Registration is free.   • Brain Injury Support Group, 7:30 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 10 at SSM St. Joseph Health Center. Meetings are sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Missouri. Call 314-423-6442 for more information.
  • Life After Breast Cancer, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Tues., Nov. 15 in the Education Room at in St. Peters. This free program is sponsored by the SSM St. Joseph Breast Health Program and supported by the Karen Weidinger Foundation to provide education and support for breast cancer survivors. Other cancer survivors are welcome to attend. The location alternates between the Education Room at SSM St. Joseph Medical Park in St. Peters, and the Community Education Room at in Lake Saint Louis. When speaker is located at one facility, event is teleconferenced to the other.  A light dinner is provided.   • Tours of Maternity Suites — SSM St. Joseph Health Center Tours are available of Labor and Delivery, maternity unit and nurseries for all interested family members. Please call 1-866-776-3627 to set up your private tour. www.ssmhealth.com/maternity
  • Free Mammogram Screenings — SSM Health Care offers free mammogram screenings to women who have no health insurance, by appointment only. Participants must meet qualifications. Appointments are available at SSM St. Joseph Health Center, 300 First Capitol Drive in St. Charles; SSM St. Joseph Hospital West, 100 Medical Plaza in Lake Saint Louis; SSM St. Joseph Medical Park, 1475 Kisker Road in St. Peters; and SSM St. Joseph Health Center-Wentzville, 500 Medical Drive in Wentzville.   • Speaker’s Bureau Our SSM speakers are available for organizations, clubs, community and church groups. Our health professionals will speak up to one hour free of charge. A variety of health care topics can be presented to your group or organization. Call 636-949-7159 for more information.
