Good morning, Lake Saint Louis!

August 1. Where has the summer gone? My youngest will be registering for school today. He's a senior, and though my husband and I are a ways off from being empty nesters, it's still a shock.

We'll be wrapping up coverage of the St. Charles County Fair today. Maggie Rotermund, our Wentzville editor, will be reporting on damage from Saturday's lightning strike. I was at the fair Saturday morning before the storms rolled in, and I'll have a photo gallery from the baby contest.

Monday is our "help wanted" day, and we'll round up some great job opportunities in the area.

I'm also planning to get you that update on the rain garden demo area in Boulevard Park. Friday got so busy—as Fridays so often do—that I didn't get it posted.

Today in history, courtesy of History.com: In 1961, Six Flags Over Texas opened to the public. The $10 million amusement park was inteneded to be a temporary use for some vacant land, but it was so popular that it became permanent.
