The Second Cup: July 14 Edition

You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second and find out what's up for the day in Lake Saint Louis.

Good morning, Lake Saint Louis!

Today is my Give 5 Day. Give 5 is a Patch initiative in which employees give five days of service a year to their communities. My first Give 5 Day was the , back in February. That was so much fun, it didn't feel like volunteer work.

I'm excited to spend today helping Lorri Grueber and her Green Gloves volunteer group doing some work in . I even went out and bought myself some green gloves! (Okay, green is Patch's color, too.) I'll have a photographer along to get a few shots of us working, and I'm hoping that during our coffee break (do we get a coffee break, Lorri?) I can take some notes on a group that's doing some wonderful work for Lake Saint Louis.

Today in history, thanks to History.com: It's Bastille Day! In 1789, French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille, that infamous fortress and prison, giving momentum to the revolution that would end with the beheading of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette in 1792.
