The Second Cup: June 16 Edition

You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second one and find out what's up for the day.

Good morning, Lake Saint Louis. Did you take advantage of the nice weather yesterday to get your lawn work done?

It's hard to believe that it's Thursday already. The weeks are flying by. Yesterday on my way back from a meeting in Maryland Heights, I noticed that the fireworks tents are going up in St. Charles. Then later in the evening when I was walking the dogs, I heard that first Pop! of a firecracker from somewhere down the road.

Have you had the chance to check out that posted at 6 a.m.? Great ideas there for Father's Day gifts—check it out!

Tuesday's winner in the trivia contest won't be able to use the tickets for June 24, so we're going to be running the contest again today. Here's a clue for those of you reading this column: The trivia question will run at 1 p.m. The first correct answer wins!

Viewfinder will feature some great photos of the boat show this past weekend at Windjammer Pointe. My son and I had a great time there Sunday looking at all the boats and deciding which one we'd buy if we won the lottery. At first he was partial to the sailboats, but then we got a look at the pontoons. "Mom," he said, admiring all the bells and whistles. "I would just go sit in it while it was tied to the dock. Just sit in it. And I'd be happy."

I'd be right there with him. Well, I'd bring us a couple tall frosty glasses of lemonade, too.

Hey, don't forget that tonight is the second in concert series. Groovethang performs at 6:30 in Clocktower Plaza.

This day in history:  The first roller coaster in America opened at Coney Island, in 1884!
