Good morning, Lake Saint Louis. Did you breathe a sigh of relief when yesterday's second round of storms passed us by?

Yesterday was a busy day for me. I started out at the ARB meeting, so you'll have a report on new construction later today. I ended up at city hall in the evening for tree board and park board, only to find the doors locked. Next time I'll remember to check the city's website for changes to the meeting venue and cancellations.

Today, we'll have a report from the board meeting of St. Charles Community College. SCC students saw a tuition increase for the summer of 2011, the college's first increase since 2007.

Today in history, from our friends at History.com: Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the G.I. Bill in 1944. The G.I. Bill is credited with helping spur a 30-year period of economic growth. It provided for unemployment benefits, low-interest loans, and tuition, books and expenses for veterans to attend college.
