Our Picture of the Day comes from our article about the a few weekends back. Freelancer Kim Duncan caught this great view of a hot dog vendor's cart. I love the juxtaposition of the cart against the imposing permanence of the Von Maur store behind it. Don't forget to send in your great shots!

Speaking of photos, I'm going to try to be out in Lake Saint Louis neighborhoods sometime in the next couple of days. I want to get some pictures of the fall color and the harvest and Halloween decorations that are popping up. Any place in particular that's a Don't Miss? Let me know.

Our 6 a.m. story was about into St. Charles County. It's interesting how little was known in advance about it. We'll be keeping an eye on future developments for you.

Today in history, courtesy of History.com: In 1792, the cornerstone was laid for the executive mansion in the new capital city of Washigton. The white stone structure became known as "the White House." The site was chosen by George Washington, and John Adams was its first resident.
