The Second Cup: September 26 Edition

You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second and find out what's up for the day in Lake Saint Louis.

Good morning, Lake Saint Louis!

I'm back from vacation and doing my best to get up to speed again. And that can be a bit of a challenge when you've spent the previous four days in the middle of the 18th century.

I spent my vacation in Mexico, MO, at their Walk Back in Time event. My nonprofit group, the Living History Company, was providing a colonial encampment for the event, which covers American history through the Korean War. In addition to the encampments and living history demonstrations, there were period merchants, skits and battle re-enactments. I was portraying one of my all-time heroes, Abigail Adams.

We'll also be posting a schedule for Wentzville high school sports. The fall season is in full swing, and there is a lot going on—volleyball, soccer, golf and cross country, in addition to football.

We had a photographer at the Paws in the Park event at Broemmelsiek on Saturday, and at the Art Fair at the Meadows on Sunday. Look for picture galleries this week!

Today in history, courtesy of History.com: In 1960, the first debate between major party presidential candidates was shown on television.  John F. Kennedy was much more at ease than Vice President Richard M. Nixon, who refused to wear makeup. In subsequent debates, Nixon was more relaxed.
