Upcoming Events in the Parks

Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department releases May-September calendar.

Spring is here and with it the urge to get out. Wentzville Patch gives you a look at the upcoming events in Wentzville city parks this spring and summer.

Remember to register early, as events fill up quickly when there is high interest and can also be canceled for lack of interest.

Patch is highlighting events for families and adults. An upcoming story will feature more information on camps and programs geared toward young children.

May
  • Grandparents' Ball — An evening out for grandparents and their grandchildren ages 3-12. The event is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Center. 
  • Bingo & Bites — An morning  of traditional bingo, 4 corners, postage stamp, coverall and many other versions of the game for the over 21 crowd. Bingo will be played from 9 t0 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at . 
  • Renaissance Faire — The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire opens at Rotary Park on May 14. The faire is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 14-15, May 21-22, May 28-30 and June 4-5. 
  • Movie in the Park — "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" will be shown for free at 8 p.m. May 20 at . 
June 
  • Sunset Concert — That 80's Band will perform for free at 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Rotary Park Amphitheatre. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
  • Art in the Park — This event is slated from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Rotary Park. Artists are invited to showcase their creations and sell their products.
  • Women's Self Defense — In coordination with the , the parks department is offering a self-defense class for women ages 13 and older. The class will teach the basics of hand-to-hand combat in close contact situations. The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. on June 15-16.
  • Scavenger Hunt — The summer scavenger hunt will be held on June 21. At noon a list of items will be posted on the city's website. Participants must take a picture of all the items and hand deliver them to Progress Park. 
  • Movie in the Park — "Monsters vs. Aliens" will be shown for free at 8:30 p.m. June 24 at Rotary Park.
  • Adult Basketball Skills Competition — Participants will put their skills to the test, showing off their skills in free throw, three-point, PIG and Around the World competitions. Participants will be divided into age divisions for the Saturday, June 25 event. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the games begin at 9 a.m. at Progress Park.
July 
  • July 4th Parade/Celebration — This year's theme is "We the People." The parade will be held at 3 p.m. on July 4. The floats will head west down Pearce Blvd to end at . The celebration begins in Progress Park following the parade. From noon to 7 p.m. there will be free swimming. The celebration also includes free inflatables, clowns, balloon sculpting, live music and fireworks. 
  • Mid-Summer Nights Dine & Dance — An evening of dinner and dancing for the over-40 crowd. The music for the Friday, July 15 dance will be from the 40's 50's and 60's. The dance runs from 6-9 p.m. at Progress Park Center.
August
  • Songs of the Night Nature Walk — A nighttime nature walk at Rotary Park will be held from 8-10 p.m. August 12. It is open to all ages; 16 and under must have an adult register with them.
  • Wabash Days — Held in downtown Wentzville on West Allen, Linn and Main Streets, the festival features live music, street performances, carnival rides and much more. Wabash Days begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 and runs from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. 
September
  • Pooch Plunge — From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, Wentzville pools are going to the dogs. For $6, bring your dog to swim at Progress Park. Each dog will be given a treat and door prizes will be given out. 
  • Hill of Thrills Soapbox Race — Featuring cars donated by businesses and organizations with racers being randomly placed in the cars. The race will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, following the city's 9/11 remembrance at noon.
  • Fall City-wide Garage Sale — Get ready for the colder weather by getting rid of all your unwanted stuff. The fall garage sale will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. It is $6 to list a sale in the city booklet and $2 to purchase the list of sales.

  • Walk-in — Come in to Progress Park center from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
