Weekend Activities Combine the Athletic and the Artistic

The fun includes opportunities for the sports and culture-minded in Wentzville and nearby.

The Wentzville Patch has put together a collection of activities designed to spark creativity and get you moving as we inch closer to spring.

Free Children's Movie
  • Where/When: St. Charles Stadium 18, noon Wednesday
  • Why Go: Free movie with the kids
  • Pricing: Free; food for purchase
  • Film: "How To Train Your Dragon"

FUN AND SAFETY — UNDER ONE ROOF

  • Where/When:  is hosting a free child identification program. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Be sure to register by calling 636-288-3236.
  • Why Go: The program provides parents with a CD that includes physical, personal and medical information; emergency and medical contacts; and digital photographs and fingerprints. There will be treats for the kids and a free home organizer for grownups. While you're at the store, you and the kids can paint their own pottery.
  • Pricing: The Child Safety CD program is free. Pottery painting starts at $10.

SKATE INTO SPRING

  • Where/When: . Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: No matter the weather, you and your family can enjoy an indoor skating experience with outdoor activity impact.
  • Pricing: All skaters, $5. Free for children up to age three (with paying adult). Seniors, $4 (with identification). Skate Rental, $2

  • Where/When: The St. Charles County Arts Council will hold  an all-media art class for ages seven and up. The classes start this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Why Go: It's an investment in your artistic offspring! The teacher will provide materials and instruction to give kids a chance to create in a variety of forms.
  • Pricing: $100 for the four-week course.

  • Where/When: St. Charles Community College, Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building, St. Peters. Sunday, 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: A great way to expose older kids and teens to history and drama. This play follows a group of women who served in Vietnam, as they visit the Vietnam Memorial Wall ten years later.
  • Pricing: General Admission $7; College Students and Seniors $5; Free for SCC Students
