On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, several residents of Wentzville are hosting an event to support The Reading of the Fallen, which has been organized nationwide by the veterans group The Fight Continues. The reading will be from noon to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wentzville Law Enforcement Center.
The Fight Continues is organizing the reading of all 1.2 million people who have sacrificed their lives for this nation since the American Revolution. Wentzville volunteers will read 1,750 names to support The Reading of the Fallen.
“We are seeking volunteers who would like to join us by reading names of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom,” said Forrest Gossett, one of the event organizers. “This is not an official city event; rather an event sponsored people who believe that is important on this Veterans Day to respect the brave men and women who have died to protect freedom for the world’s longest and most successful experiment in democracy.”
Event organizers include Rick Stokes, Cheryl Kross, Chris Gard, Wentzville Police Chief Lisa Harrison, Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione, Sonya Shryock and Zip Sherman.
